生物燃料抢夺全球"口粮"

    而高油价也推动了生物燃料的发展。不过近期，随着全球粮食危机愈演愈烈，很多批评者转而认为是生物燃料对粮食价格高涨在推波助澜。

    当前生物燃料生产主要集中在美国、巴西和欧盟。巴西生物燃料的原料主要是甘蔗，欧洲国家生物燃料的主要原料是油菜籽和小麦。2007年全球生物燃料产量中美国占比超过了40%。在美国，生物燃料主要利用玉米来生产燃料乙醇，2006-2007农业年度，美国约有5385万吨的玉米用于生产燃料乙醇，占美国玉米总消耗量的18.9%，今后几年这个比例还会上升。

    美国去年通过新的能源法，鼓励使用生物燃料乙醇，作为世界头号粮食出口国，这直接引发了国际玉米价格的大涨，并促使美国农民减少小麦、大豆等农作物的种植，扩大玉米的种植面积，成为其他农产品价格的大涨一个原因。但也有分析认为，生物燃料在全球运输燃料总消耗中的比例仍不到3％，并不会引发粮价暴涨，联合国粮农组织预计当前的生物燃料发展计划将使食品成本上升10％到15％，但最近一年多数农产品的价格都上涨了不止一倍。
